She sat at the toilet seat, soaked in her tears, watching her blood drip and mix with the filthiness of the toilet water.Perhaps a reminder of the messy events leading to this moment. It was the most painful choice she had made when she popped those pills. Her body had responded in revolt. It was not going to be long before her body gave in to the faint she was feeling.

Nothing had ever prepared her for this moment. Death was beckoning from the horizon as the will to live kicked in earnest. Would she die such an ugly death? In the most lonely and murky place? The tears got hotter and her temperature shot as a sharp pain cut through her midsection. In between consciousness and unconsciousness her life came flashing back like an episode.

She had transformed from a naive village girl, to an outgoing city girl. But with all these changes she maintained a strict mantra. She was not going to give into any man until she had a ring on it. She was to live through to every girl’s, dream of walking down the isle some day in a flowing white gown. She would be a pride to her parents and the talk of her village. The picture of that day to be was so clear in her mind that she smiled whenever she imagined. Two white horses added to her perfect set up.

There was a career forum in her school. She was in form two. Young and raring to dream big. They sat in the school hall anxiously waiting for the guests of the day. She was seated at the front row. In walked the school principal who was a catholic Sister. She was one strict disciplinarian, At the tow were two smartly dressed young men and a lady. But it is the guy at the center who caught her attention. As they stood to clap and welcome the guests, she tried but couldn’t. For a reason she could not explain, her knees felt weak and butterflies danced inside her belly The guy at the center had an instant effect on her. Although not very tall, he was tall for her height, dark and well chiseled.

Tony was a third year University student studying Journalism. He had gone through a rough patch in his life as an abandoned child, barely surviving on handouts after the uncle who took care of him passed on just before he sat his final exams in High School. His story of endurance against all odds to make it to the Campus was such an inspiration that local schools where he had grown, always invited him to inspire students.

Lillian, could not concentrate. Her eyes kept shifting to him. She did not even pay attention to what the other speakers before him had said. Within her naivety lay some woman. Some desire.

He finally stood to speak. He walked with such confidence to the center of the podium directly in-front of where she sat. With a wide smile, he spanned his head around the hall as he waited for the claps to die down. Right infront of him, he met her eyes. Big beautiful brown eyes. He found himself smiling even more. She was such a beauty to behold. He made a mental note, to make personal contact after the forum.

He spoke with such a fruity voice. Soft spoken yet authoritative. She found her self smiling as she attentively listened to him.

The pain in her under belly got stronger as she remembered vividly, that moment at the podium, when she met Tony. How he made her feel all marshy. How in the thirty minutes he stood before them talking about focus and the power of dreams, she had infused him into hers and woven such a perfect future. Her head went on a spin. Anytime from now she would be separated from the mortal world. Would she die such a shameful death with an unfulfilled dream?
